Tour the area day

Took off the day and went to Fairhope, Alabama after getting suggestions as it is a fun place to visit. Wow were they right on the money! There has to be 200 shops of every kind from boutiques to a spectacular fly shop and everything in between. Spent much of the day there in and out of places including the history of the town museum which although sounds kinds hokie, it was extremely well done - including a 1937 Fire Engine that looked as though it had just come out of the factory. My most interesting thing were the Peavey stereo speakers high up on the telephone poles constantly playing music. So no matter where you went, there was this background music playing. Lots of little dining temptations and a French Quarter series of shops that were the size of a large living room with all sorts of fun things. There were unique toy stores, a huge library, a community pier with shops galore there.
In the fall, they have 1 million lights on the trees in the town that get lighted,. They close off the main street and put up a huge movie screen and many, many people come dressed in their pajamas to watch "POLAR EXPRESS". And last weekend, we blew it and missed the largest arts and crafts show in Alabama attracting over 250,000 people. And the town is set up to handle that many.
Next year we will definitely go there 2X
Stopped off at Felix's for a late lunch - to die for and ended up at Bass Pro so Bob could do a walk through " just in case" - never did find a keeper.
Pictures next
Oh - the Gulf is really upset - sand line must go out 1/4 mile - will be a while before we get to fish now.
